Learn why these machines roll and wrap, the rules that keep you alive, helmets, operator protection devices, ROPS and seatbelts, guarding, no passengers, no extra riders and how to keep mobile plant away from people and children away from hazards. This complements, but does not replace, hands-on operator training.

What You Will Learn
Identify the leading causes of death and serious injury on Australian farms and where awareness training sits alongside formal, hands-on operator training
Explain why quad bikes and side-by-side vehicles roll over, and apply the core survival rules: a helmet and active riding on a quad, a seatbelt inside a side-by-side cabin, an operator protection device or ROPS, no passengers on single-rider machines, no children under 16 on adult-sized quads, and respect for terrain and speed
Describe tractor safety essentials: rollover protective structure (ROPS) and seatbelt, safe starting, no extra riders and runover prevention
Recognise entanglement hazards around the PTO shaft and unguarded machinery, and the guarding, clothing and shutdown rules that prevent them
Apply safe-separation thinking to mobile plant working around people, and set up a safe area and rules that keep children away from farm hazards

Accreditation: This is a non-accredited awareness course only. It is not a nationally recognised qualification, not an RTO Statement of Attainment and not a high-risk work licence and it does not authorise or licence you to operate a quad bike, tractor or any item of farm plant. Awareness training helps you recognise hazards and the rules behind them; competence to operate a specific machine comes only from supervised hands-on instruction, the manufacturer's operator manual, your employer's verification and any accredited operator training delivered by a Registered Training Organisation. Where a task requires formal or licensed training, this course complements it. It never replaces it. Always follow the current requirements of your work health and safety regulator and the machine manufacturer.
