Hand and Power Tool Safety
A practical, visual awareness course on using hand and portable power tools safely. Covers selecting the right tool, pre-use inspection and tagging out, guarding and safe use of angle grinders, drills and saws, electrical and RCD safety, the right PPE and the common injuries these tools cause, as paced slides with diagrams, a real workplace decision scenario and quick self-checks, aligned to the WHS plant and PPE duties.

What You Will Learn
- Recognise the common injuries caused by hand and portable power tools and the WHS plant and PPE duties that apply
- Select the right tool for a task and carry out a pre-use inspection, removing damaged tools from service
- Use guarded power tools such as angle grinders, drills and saws safely, controlling kickback and entanglement
- Apply electrical safety controls including RCDs, lead care and checking that portable equipment carries a current test tag
- Choose and use the correct PPE and safe work practices for tool-based tasks
