Contractors, service technicians and trades heading to a mine for the first time; delivery, freight and transport drivers; corporate, administration, technical and consulting visitors; and new starters who want a grounding before they sit their formal generic induction. Anyone who will step onto or beside a mine site without yet holding the site's induction.
Accreditation: This is a non-accredited awareness course only. It is not a nationally recognised qualification, not an RTO Statement of Attainment and not any form of licence, ticket or competency sign-off. In particular, this course is not Standard 11, the coal industry's name for the generic coal mine induction, which is built to meet Recognised Standard 11 'Training in coal mines', a standard made by the Minister under section 72 of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 (Qld) and which in practice is delivered by Registered Training Organisations. This course does not replace it, does not shorten it and gives you no credit towards it. It is also not a site induction: no online course can be your induction to a particular mine, because an induction is about that mine's own hazards, rules and emergency arrangements. It does not authorise you to carry out any mining work, operate any plant, enter any restricted area or hold any statutory position. If your role requires a generic induction, a coal board or mine medical, a high risk work licence or a statutory certificate of competency, speak to your employer, the mine operator or an RTO. This course does not replace any of them. The mine's safety management system, its induction and the directions of its statutory position holders always decide what you may and may not do on any particular site.
