Manual Handling Awareness Online: Proof You Can Show in Seconds

Non-accredited online manual handling awareness for Australian workplaces. About 45 minutes, $39 inc GST, certificate ID anyone can verify. Not HLTWHS005.

Published 2026-10-04

Body stressing is the largest single cause of serious workers’ compensation claims in Australia: 50,600 claims, or 34.5%, in 2023-24, according to Safe Work Australia’s Key Work Health and Safety Statistics Australia 2025. Serious claims are those with at least one working week lost. Everyday lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling are the kind of tasks Safe Work Australia calls hazardous manual tasks.

If you need short online manual handling awareness for Australian workers, this page is for you. You can finish it on a phone, and the certificate can be checked by a head contractor, client or auditor.

If you were asked for the nationally recognised unit HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely, or for a White Card or a licence, stop here. WorkProof is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). We do not issue Statements of Attainment. See the table below, or the full comparison guide.

Who This Is For

  • Workers in warehouse, healthcare, trades, retail, hospitality, offices and similar roles who lift, carry, push, pull, hold or restrain loads
  • Supervisors who plan that work
  • SME employers and subcontractors who need awareness seats and a record to show a site gate or prequalification portal, not a full learning management system and not an accredited unit

What the Course Covers

  1. What makes a manual task hazardous under the WHS Regulations
  2. How musculoskeletal disorders develop (gradual wear and sudden overload)
  3. Risk factors: force, posture, movement, repetition, duration, vibration, environment
  4. Safe lifting principles, and why technique training alone is not enough
  5. Hierarchy of controls: redesign and mechanical aids before “be careful”
  6. A workplace decision scenario and a final assessment

Written against the Acts, Regulations and Codes listed on the course page, including the Compliance Code: Hazardous manual handling (Vic), Edition 2, December 2019, each with the date it was last checked.

Some sites ask for evidence that workers have done awareness training on the hazards they will meet, with a name and a date. A WorkProof certificate is that kind of record. Whether a head contractor or client accepts it is their call. The simplest check is to send them the sample verify link before you buy for the whole crew. For the full comparison, read Awareness Certificate vs Statement of Attainment vs White Card.

FAQ

Is this accredited / nationally recognised?
No. WorkProof is not a Registered Training Organisation. You get a certificate of completion with a verification ID, not a unit of competency, licence or ticket.

Will my site / head contractor accept it?
Only they can say. If they asked for awareness evidence with a name and a date, a WorkProof certificate may meet that request. If they asked for HLTWHS005 or a White Card, this is not it. Send them the sample verify link first.

How long does it take?
About 45 minutes for most people. It saves progress so you can pause and come back.

Can I get a refund?
Yes, you can ask for a refund within seven days of purchase if you have not started the course. Opening any lesson, material or assessment counts as starting. For team seats, the enrolment code must not have been activated. Email support@workproof.com.au with your order number. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected, so if a course does not meet a consumer guarantee you may be entitled to a remedy even after seven days. See clause 6 of our Terms of Sale.
